Hello October

Hard to believe it’s already here!

Pottery Barn Does Halloween

Since Halloween is the second most popular decorating holiday in the US, it’s no surprise stores like Pottery Barn {and Z Gallery} have now stocked their stores with traditional-themed, spooky wares. {At least, this is the first year I’ve noticed their rise in Halloween decor}. And I am impressed with Pottery Barn’s styling:

{Love the idea of putting color-coded candies in the apothecary jars!}

The Weekend

It’s almost October, so I’m posting this polaroid of cute, festive pumpkins. Which is an odd segue, so…Happy Weekend!

Haunted Mantles

Scouring flickr for some Halloween-esque mantlescape ideas {ha! and I don’t even have a fireplace!}, I came across some inspirational ideas:

I actually had a very similar tree-branch-in-vase look for last Halloween. {More on that later.}

I think Lorajean describes early holiday decoration best.

Zooey D

I used to read NYLON religiously during my first years in college — it was “edgy” + “different”. There were no “how to impress your man while not using your brain” or “my mother was actually my sister: a true story” nonsense. But it became too pretentious for me, and so I stopped reading the glossy magazine. {I didn’t consider the constant artsy, clothes-less model-in-dusk-lit-brooklyn-abandoned-apt shots to be very “fashion-forward”. Sorry, rant officially over.} But this October I digress my magazine moral values for Zooey Deschanel! One of my favorite style muses!

The Weekend

It’s a miracle that the weather here has cooled off this early in the Fall “season” — this definitely makes for a more enjoyable weekend. Have a happy weekend!

Sassy Brits

Skirt + shoe combo perfection! {I’ve been on the hunt for some crazy, gladiator-ish, strappy sandal/pumps like this, or these, for awhile now, but minus the price tag and 4+ inch heel. Even though I don’t really need them…or have a legitimate place to wear them…and despite the fact that they might sabotage my feet. Still.}

More young, stylish Londoners during LFW.

Some Girls Wander Back

Oh, I’m so happy! After a summer-long hiatus, Emily from Inside a Black Apple, has brought back her Some Girls Wander blog! I love the colorful outfits she wears.

Thank goodness it’s here. Have a wonderful weekend!

Domo Arigato Target

I was delighted to see Domo-Kun as the Halloween mascot at Target this past weekend.

For those of you who aren’t on a first-name basis with Domo, he’s been entertaining the Japanese viewing audience as the official mascot of a major network there. To me, he’s one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen– he actually makes me want to buy Target brand candy corn. It’s also nice to see something my mom introduced to me as a kid come full circle and back into the world again.

You’ve come a long way Domo…with pumpkins!
