I thought harem pants were forever jettisoned as a style faux pas. But they’ve slowly crept back into fashion consciousness the past couple years {or maybe they never left}. You’d think that adding sequins everywhere would be more repulsive (aka: grandma-does-Vegas meets early ’90s), but somehow they look kind of…cool? But me dressing “cool” is a little outside my element / comfort-zone.

{Update: The Merona autumn line at Target features a black, and white metal-link watch! I do like the 3-mini dials, and the affordable $15 price-point. My sweet Husband already bought me the Timex watch, below, so why do I want this one, too? Maybe it’s because of my shopping addiction and severe weakness for all things Target, black, and Chanel-esque.}

Black, link wrist watches have resurfaced on my radar again. I originally coveted them several years ago when Chanel launched their J12 line. I’ve had a penchant for all-black clothes since high school and that affinity still carries true today — so me coveting a black colored timepiece is just a natural progression towards becoming a 30 year-old goth. Fortunately, now there are other, less pricey, options out there — ones that won’t cost you $5-grand just to know the time. These black watches are unexpectedly sophisticated and definitely exude a sleek, masculine style.

It’s great to see classic American brands like LL Bean, Lands End, and Talbots go from dowdy and bland to surprisingly chic and wearable. J Crew accomplished this a few years back with Jen Lyons, and Ann Taylor {and LOFT} seem to have followed those footsteps…and now, so has Talbots. I’m a sucker for autumnal clothing/marketing, and these pieces from the “new” Talbots Fall line are no exception.

I’m not an outdoor-sy person, let alone a “summer/sunny” person, but these stylish, city denizens make me want to quit my indoor-cubicle-desk job, buy understated-chic summer clothes and wander around the open streets of some European city {I’ll even take NYC, once their heatwave simmers down}. Who’s with me?

{apparently the summer temp in Florence allows for gorgeous, rich,
brown, linen suits — super lux style, super non-California weather style.
bummer.}

Due to my misshapen right foot {thank you auto accident, circa last year}, I think I’m going to take the plunge into hippie territory, via the Birkenstock. Too bad they are such a departure from my edgy, fashion-forward shoe collection of yesteryear.
Kidding.
I hear Birks’ are mad-comfortable, with great arch support — all things my right foot now demands in a sandal. And at least Birkos’ don’t look like medicinal, orthopedic correction shoes. I’ve narrowed it down to these beauties:

Wow, is it really time–in the fashion recycle continuum–to bring back The Clog? I’ve seen mention of this in all {3} of my magazines, the NYT {magazine}, blogs, online stores and well, that’s it really. {It’s a small fashion world I live in}. But back to the issue at hand: clogs. Really? Good thing? Horrendous? Rustic chic? This year’s moccasin? The new stiletto? {Ugh, the new Ugg?}
This time around, clogs run the gamit: from traditional to high heel, from strappy sandal to wtw? is this?, from ankle booties to designer renditions.
I think my legs are def’ too chunk for clogs {it’s the cross I bear}, but who’s to say they wouldn’t look somewhat cute on someone else? These girls seem to pull off the look quite well, n’est pas?

Speaking of Target…
{yeah, I know, two posts in 1-day, both about Target; that’s how fascinating my interests are}
I’m kind of excited about their {limited-time} partnership with Liberty of London {spanning from clothing — including menswear!, to shoes, to stationery, to home goods}, arriving March 14th. I just wish their Target collection were more akin to this, or had these prints. Though the prints they used are probably more palpable to the majority of Target’s constituents.

These Spring pieces from Toast remind me of the summers I spent in southern California {we’re talking a stone’s throw away from Mexico, southern California}. Now if only I could dress this effortlessly in the scorching heat during California’s summer months — May to mid-October.

{I think I can make this necklace…}
{and definitely this rope “necklace” (noose?), too}

I can’t wait to see Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. I’m a novice fan of his film style and imagery. {As well as cooler than cool, Mr. Cheekbones himself, Johnny Depp.} These are not promos for the movie, but I love how these photos capture the Carroll-ian essence of the story’s characters and events {and fashion!}. They’re kind of dark, somber, macabre — and I l-o-v-e it!
