The Weekend

Hope you have a relaxing weekend! I’m going to be stocking up on some pumpkins for decorations around the apartment, and maybe trying a new Fall-season recipe…

Leather Gloves

I’ve been looking for cutout, shortened motorcycle gloves for awhile, and these seem to fit the bill {just a tad cheaper than these}. These would look sharp with a three-quarter sleeved car coat. Kind of reminiscent of a Hitchcock movie’s leading lady.

Hallowe’en Postcards

Just puttering around Flickr and found these vintage Hallowe’en postcards, some were cute, some a little creepy. More original and less commercial than today’s variation. Kind of funny to think that people sent post/cards for Halloween, or at least it doesn’t seem as prevalent today.

Brain Cupcakes

What a cute dessert idea for a Halloween get-together! These were first featured in Martha Stewart Kids, but what adult could possibly resist the temptation of cupcakes? Especially if the “brain” were to be made of buttercream frosting? Mmm…cerebral…

How-To: Be a Recessionista

Hard times call for smarter shopping, or lack thereof {Husband won’t believe I just said that}. Some {surprisingly easy} tips for controlling Fall/Winter fashion-spending overload {which I am a complete victim of} from Jacinta O’Halloran on Divine Caroline:

1}. Work your accessories
2}. Wear last year’s jeans
3}. Shop Vintage
4}. Work with what you have
5}. Make do with your makeup

Simple enough.

Saltwater Autumn

How sweet + feminine is Saltwater’s Fall/Winter line? Kind of British 1920s librarian-chic — so natural and effortless {and kind of moody, in a good way}.

Eddie Ross

Reading Eddie’s blog is like reading a condensed decorating magazine — chock full of absolutely brilliant ideas, tips, photos, and inspiration {he is the senior style editor of Martha Stewart Living, and a Top Design contestant}. I’m grateful for all the knowledge he so willingly shares about entertaining, diy projects, and decorating; and all with a kind and very unassuming narrative.

Mrs. O

Mrs. Michelle Obama, that is! Such a classy, strong, intelligent woman. As more Americans are tuning in to what the presidential candidates’ spouses are wearing, it’s no surprise that a fashion blog has been set up to track + post the latest outfits of Mrs. O.

Eryn brinie

Korean retailer, Eryn brinie, has arrived in the States. Well, so far, just New York. The clothing is “inspired by French-chic and urban spirit [which] merges natural chic and modern sensibility” according to their website. Items range from $50 - $150. Not too bad. More “high-end” than F21, and H&M; more like TopShop prices but not as trendy-trendy. Unfortunately, they don’t have an online shop set up.

People Watching

Scott Schuman is fantastic at capturing great {unexpected} fashion and the charming nuances of runway show attendees {okay, practically anyone in front of his lens!}.

Color!{I spy Louise!}

Black Coats{My fave — Sofia Coppola!}

Vintage French{These ladies wear their hats quite nicely.}

Menswear + Blue Hues{Love the trousers, tweed blazer, and blue dress!}
